This is the first part of a strategy I spelled out below for the looming battle to replace Justice O'Connor on the Supreme Court. Now that several qualified consensus candidates have been identified, we need to start selling them to the American public BEFORE the president has a chance to name his nominee, who will likely be divisive. It's a matter of playing offense instead of defense.
