i expect a comment from my sister the opera diva about this
I made it to the earlier, advanced yoga class tonight, which was great.
After class, one of the classmates who on Tuesday invited me to tonight's class approached me to tell me I have a beautiful singing voice (we chant at the start and end of each class).
I have to say, it's a compliment I've never received before.

I'm going to leave that up to you, per our earlier conversation. All I have to say is Mazel Tov to him!
Please don't call me an opera diva. It's embarrassing to call me that because I do not have, nor have I ever had, a performing career. The more accurate job title would be voice teacher, since that's what I've been doing for 6 years now. That's great that someone told you you have a beautiful singing voice. There's no reason why you wouldn't. Are you thinking that you wouldn't have a good voice because Mom always said you were tone-deaf or something? The expert on music? Did you ever take voice lessons at Ithaca?
YOU always told me I was tone deaf!
I took a one-semester voice class my Freshman year at Ithaca. I've never pursued any serious singing since then, if you could even call that serious.
Didn't mean to embarrass or offend...I was just trying to make a point about your musical talents, something I've always looked up to and have been jealous of!

Yeah, well, I was also too snotty for musical theater back then too. What did I know? I apologize if I ever made you feel bad about your voice. I wasn't a voice teacher back then. I would never do that to anyone now, even the few kids in my class I can't stand. i just make them feel bad about their crappy work ethic.
Speaking of jealous, I'm so totally jealous of you over this yoga thing! I have long wished for enough time/monry/courage to take yoga.
I am so proud of you
